My Journey giving up grains, sugar, dairy and now BOOZE!
Okay this is the scariest thing I have ever posted. It’s brutally honest for me to share and make this commitment publicly. Please I ask for support in this journey. If you want to join me in this goal let me know. I know many of us struggle with eating the wrong foods, drinking too much, not taking enough exercise. But you are not alone. Maybe you too are being stubborn and not listening to your inner voice.
My aim is to break my goal down to one day at a time and live free of alcohol. I need to make my goal achievable, specific and easy to measure. This is me being exposed. I eat clean, juice all the time and am continually growing and learning about nutrition. I have cured myself of asthma and allergies and am now in excellent health. You can read my blog about curing my asthma on this page. My biggest downfall, and now I really want to do something about is my relationship with alcohol.
I like booze! It doesn’t like me back. I like wine, champagne, gin, whiskey. I work at festivals so when I am working I get a bit too over excited and caught up in the energy in the field. Then I get home and think what the hell am I doing and then I will go 3-4 months alcohol free. Then it creeps back in. Then I start to question myself again and get back on track. It’s like I am too scared to commit to being alcohol free full time. I think I need to set a goal and stick to it. If there is one thing I want to change about myself and my health this would be it.
It’s time to raise the bar instead of a glass. I have been 95 % clean with my diet. I am grain free, dairy free for many years now. It is time to raise the bar and go 100% and cut the alcohol. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t been a huge drinker. A couple of glasses of wine here, a couple of whiskeys there. I have been 4 months alcohol free while doing cleanses and other healing protocols. But it creeps back in. It is the creeping back in bit that gets me down. I start having this boring conversation with myself and start to beat myself up. Sounds like one step forward two steps back mentality.
So I figure if I am going to be inspiring you all to be healthy with my juices and recipes at the seminars and helping people as a nutritional healer, I will be a total fraud if I am not clean and alcohol free. So if anyone else is struggling with this core principle, join me. We can do it together. I am blogging about on my website and my Facebook page which many of you know about from my recipe sharing from the seminars. If you want to join me connect with me on here or www.facebook.com/passion4juice
There has been a lot of attention about the Paleo diet in the Press. This is a diet that is sugar, dairy, grain, processed food and potato free – supposedly eating the way our ancestors would have eaten. I know I feel better without dairy and most grains in my diet. But other members of my household are fine with both. I have been on a long journey healing my allergies and asthma using juicing, whole food and primarily plant based foods. I have eliminated many food groups and reintroduced them, seeing the effect on my body. It has been a worthwhile journey.
I am a 4th year nutrition student and my knowledge and journey can help others. I definitely encourage anyone with allergies, intolerances, or any chronic health issues to seek out nutritional guidance from a professional. So often the way we feel and the health problems we suffer are because if the food or non-food we eat. Hydration, movement and eating real food are key to feeling vibrant and healthy. Over complicating this leaves people bewildered. Jumping on the next fad diet doesn’t help. Real food, movement and adequate hydration is key. Also listen to your own body. If it is whispering, or even shouting at you with minor pain, or major chronic disease then do something about it. Take the first step, look at what you are putting into your body and start eliminating non-foods.
If you would like some help or guidance let me know. I am close to being fully qualified plus I have 3 decades experience of preparing real food and inspiring people to be healthy. I post easy recipes that all the family will love. There are also easy to follow videos and recipes on my youtube channel youtube
